Wedding Guest Outfit

Hello, last week I went to my first ever wedding! How exciting, it was a truly magical day. The Bride my friend Tess look absolutely beautiful and I am so glad I got to go to such a fabulous day.

This being my first wedding I wanted to get the outfit spot on, because well I don't think any of my other friends will be getting married anytime soon. After trying on 3027529 dresses I decided on this one from topshop.

It might've been a May wedding but it was a breezy day, my coat from New Look was very necessary for waiting around for the photos after the ceremony.

I think I might've found some pretty perfect wedding shoe, I was one of the few girls who managed dancing in the ceilidh without taking of my shoes or hobbling. They are little lace up nude sandal/boots from topshop (similar). They have a small heel helping to give me a little hight and the lace up combination with nude colouring they didn't make my stumpy legs look quite as stumpy as they are. Expect to see more of these!

I hope you've enjoyed my couple of posts from the wedding.

Pretty Spring Summer Make Up

Hello, in today's post I am showing you the make up I wore to my friend's wedding at the weekend. Its pinky look which is very unusual for me, because I have found the perfect pink lip *drum roll* its the NYX matte lip cream in Istanbul which I created the whole look around.

To create this look I started with my eyes as I was braving a winged liner (I didn't want to ruin my foundation with corrections. All the eye shadows are from my Naked 3 Palette which I absolutely adore. I started with Strange all over the lids, then a combination of Dust and Burnout patted all over the lids. Factory gently patted onto the outer third, then Darkside blended through the crease. For eyeliner I used the Maybelline Gel Eyeliner with the Real Techniques Silicone Liner Brush. Mascara L'oreal Miss Manga Punky Mascara.

For foundation I used my trusty Nars Sheer Glow in Mount Blanc, for my many blemishes and under eye bags Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 1 .Eyebrows are the Nyx Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe. Bronzer is the Soap and Glory Solar Powder and Highlighter is The Balm Mary Lou Manizer. Finally the lip colour of the moment Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul.

I am also have video going up of me doing the make up on my neglected YouTube channel so be sure to check that out if you have a chance.

My next post will be my outfit from the day. Thanks for popping by!

Nando's Salad - But BETTER!

Hello, today I thought I would share with you my recipe for a Nando's inspired salad. I'm currently on a little health kick, and I've been trying to find healthy meals which are equally dreamy as a burger and chips🍔🍟. This one is an absolute corker.

Ingredients (for single serving)
Salad
30g quinoa soaked and rinsed
180ml water
1 chicken breast  cooked and cut into chunks.
1/4 sweet potato cut into chunks
1/2 tbsp paprika
1 tbsp oil
Handfull of salad leaves (your choice)
1 tomato quartered and deseeded
chunk of cucumber
half an avocado sliced

Dressing
1 tbsp olive oil
drizzle of Cider vinegar
juice from 1/2 a squeezed lime
drizzle of Nandos sauce

Turn oven to 180 °
Put Quinoa and water into a pan, bring to the boil. Reduce heat and leave to simmer for 15-20 minutes until all water is absorbed. Leave to cool.
Meanwhile mix sweet potato, paprika and oil in a bowl. Put onto baking tray and cook for 15 minutes.
At this point make the dressing
Literally just put the ingredients into a bowl and mix together.
Once the quinoa and sweet potato has cooled you can assemble the salad.
(Leave some avocado, sweet potato and chicken for the top)
First put in salad leaves, followed by quinoa, tomato, cucumber, avocado, chicken and sweet potato.
Pour in dressing.
Toss leaves etc to disperse the dressing.
Then place remaining avocado, sweet potato and chicken on top.

Super simple but really tasty. You can also add other bits and bobs in, maybe some halloumi or red peppers.

My Favourite Breakfasts

Hello. Can we please talk about how Breakfast is the best meal of the day? Savoury or sweet it can go  either way, the possibilities are endless.

Salmon and Scrambled Eggs on Toast
When I am feeling fancy this is what I will have. Its a great way to get proteins into your day from the off, not to forget its delicious.

Porridge with fruit
Getting your five a day in can seem like a tall task, but fear not you can chuck as many as you like in! On this occasion I went for banana and blueberry with a sprinkling of chia seeds, much yum.

Chia Pudding with fruit
This is a more low calorie option for breakfast I think, perfect for those days when you're not that hungry or you're not exercising. Also it feels a little bit naughty, because its pudding!

NYX Haul

Hello! I had heard somewhere that NYX was now going to be stocked in Boots, but for some reason the fact bypassed my brain - luckily during some time wasting I stumbled across it and made note to go back the following day having done a little research.

Following my research I was most keen to get my hands on the Soft Matte Lip Cream, which in my opinion are pretty much liquid lipsticks. I got the shades Cannes, Copenhagen and Istanbul. One shade in particular has been a revelation to me and that is Istanbul, I have found my perfect pink, I'm not totally sure what it is about it but I love it so much. The other two are viviannedoesmakeup recommendations and are such pretty colours.

Next I got the Pro Brush 16 Blending I've been on the hunt for an inexpensive blending brush where you aren't required to buy a set for sometime. I've used this a couple of times and it does the job well.

Finally I got the Micro Brow Pencil in Taupe. I cannot tell you how long I have been looking for a eye brow this shade on the hughstreet. For my eyebrow colour they are either too blonde or too brown/red, I require a really cool toned shade as my hair is lacking in all the warmth. This is so precise and really allows you to get the shape you want. It stays on like a boss it lasted all throughout my shift at work and then on my run afterwards. I highly recommend.

Books I've read this year

Hello! Over the past year or so I have become a bit of a book worm, not a hench person who reads a book in a week but I am no longer the person who reads a maximum of two/three books a year. I wish I had done this more when I was at school, because I find it easier to write now. Back when I was doing my GCSE's it was a struggle to get out essays, partly down to the fact I avoided reading and only read something if it was required of me. Moral is, read. Find an author you like, a genre then read. Read. Read.

We're now into May, I'm onto book 5 PS, I Love You by Cecelia Ahern. This is the second book I have read by her, the first being How to Fall in Love back actually in last May (a total coincidence).

The last book I finished was Dream a Little Dream by Giovanna Fletcher. The structure of the story line is what kept me reading on this one. Sarah begins dreaming about the same man each night - Brett who she'd had a little thing for in Uni - SPOILER ALERT "Space Sex" I need say nothing more. I loved the London setting. Gah. I highly recommend.

Previous to that I read the much hyped, The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton. Not one of my favourite books I have read, never the less still a good read. I enjoyed reading about an entirely different period of time. However it did take half the book before it got going, normally I would be tempted to put a book down and just find something else but I plowed on because of the popularity. Then roughly at the halfway point on the twists and turns started, and then I couldn't put the book down until I knew what had happened.

Now for a book I read over 4 days. Spectacles by Sue Perkins. Did I mention I'm seeing Sue live in September, SO EXCITED. Spectacles is here autobiography, After reading this I found myself searching for the programmes she had mention, starting of with the "World's Most Dangerous Roads". I became such a big Sue Perkins fans after reading this! Thanks to Rob for reading this at work, I totally copied you there.

The year in reading started out strong with The Woman in the Picture by Katherine McMahon. I picked this book up on a whim in a charity shop (side not charity shops are great places to buy pretty much new condition books). It's about a lawyer in 1920's London. 1920's London a good era to read about, do it.

When I'm looking for a book to read I always have a look at Good Reads, I've now got to the stage where it starts to suggest books which is great because it finds books I may not read otherwise.

If you would be interested, I have a video about all the books I read last year, here.

Holkham to Wells

Hello. England has such a bad rep, when it comes to weather, but on Good Friday it pulled out all the stops. So my Mum and I drove up to the Norfolk Coast, through acres of beautiful countryside and quaint villages. We parked at the Holkham Nature Reserve before we head on the Coastal Path over to Wells-next-the-sea. A really pretty seaside town which was absolutely bustling with young couples, dog walkers and families.

Starting our walk through the pine woods, we quickly realised spring was springing and our thick winter coats had to be removed to be avoided over heating - yes I had dressed like I was going on an Artic Expedition.

Leading from the beach to the town is a path so long and straight we wondered stopping to take pictures of scenery blue skies and of myself!

Our destination for lunch was 'Bang in Wells' because my mum thought it looked like my type of place. Set a little further into the town, it was quieter than the sea front places where there was possibly a 30 minute plus queue to get served. We found a seat straight away. After many minutes of contemplation at the all day breakfast menu, we both settled on pancakes, berries for mother and my favourite bacon and maple syrup for myself.

Packed to the brim with pancakes the only thing to do on this gloriously sunny day was to get ice cream. I went for a classic one scoop of strawberry and chocolate. We headed down to a sunny spot on the pier, despite the smell of fish in the air, the ice cream was truly scrumptious.

Once we had indulged in all those calories we headed back to Holkham this time via the beach and the adorable beach huts, still the sun was shining and not a cloud in sight. If you find yourself in Norfolk I highly recommend you head up to the North Norfolk coast on a nice day.
