current favourites

It's been a hot minute since my last 'Current Favourites' so here is a wide variety of things I've been into recently.

Firstly this year  I have been getting back into the at home yoga practise thing. Sitting at my desk all day, is not doing wonders for me tbh. I have properly discovered Cat Meffan and her Heart openers and stretchy flows are the ideal tonic to combat this. Opening my body back out after being rather stationery and stiff in my normal working day.

Katie Jane Hughes, what a makeup inspiration she is. If you haven't heard of her where have you been. Her style of makeup is playful and colourful, yet what she does, doesn't take a really long time to look striking and editorial, unlike the typical insta-makeup. I am always intrigued to see what Katie will do next.

We've not had the best year of weather (apart from this weekend is looking pretty good), so I've been stuck in doors on my time off, therefore I've been playing Sims 2 more than I would like to admit. BUT to stop this time feeling totally unproductive I have been listening to quite a lot of Podcasts. I am pretty up to date with On The Line, which is Estee Lalonde's podcast. I particularly enjoyed 'Period Talk with Nikki and Leah' and 'A Deep Cleanse with Anjali Mahto'. Both of which I learnt to much and they were genuinely fascinating to listen to. Another favourite episode was Zanna Roberts Rassi on the Emma Guns Show talking beauty journalism and founding the brand Milk Makeup.

There's nothing quite like being late for a bandwagon is there, this very week I finally discovered Billie Eilish (I will really try not think about the fact she is 17) and her album When We Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go. Honestly I am listening to it about twice a day my picks, and the tracks stuck in my head are xanny and wish you were gay. If you haven't also joined the bandwagon, take a moment to go listen.

I finally watched Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake with my own eyes which is arguably one of the most influential ballets/pieces of dance from the 20th century. I was actually a little nervous to watch it knowing how many people adore it, and see Swan Lake over and over again.
Once the music started I could instantly tell why Bourne wanted to have his own take on the Tchaikovsky score. It is simply is simply stunning; powerful and dramatic, multilayered, tender and heart wrenching. It really does pull emotion out of all the notes within it. I wish I could travel back to 1996 and see the original audience's reaction, whilst the 2019 audience was completely engaged and captivated, I can't imagine seeing this groundbreaking piece of work then.
23 years later Swan Lake is still incredibly relevant. One of Bourne's inspirations for his adaptation was how the royals act in public, and can never truly be themselves, because of their duties. I think if we look to someone like the Duchess of Sussex, who completely had her own life, career and was extremely open with fans, how this has changed since becoming a member of the Royal family.
Also explored is the idea of masculinity with the choice of the male swans, showing the strength of these birds, rather than just the elegance. This of course leads onto the notion of the 'gay ballet'. I think audiences have become more intelligent, world views have changed. I think the show excellently handled the confusion and suppressing of questioning one's sexuality.

I could go on but to round up, I really enjoyed Swan Lake, and I hope we keep getting top quality dance visiting Norwich.

Make Up Wishlist

Hello! As you probably know, I watch a lot of beauty YouTubes, which means one thing : I WANT ALL THE MAKE UP! However I do not have the budget to make this a reality. When I get a job however I want to treat myself to a couple of things, by no means NOT everything I am about to mention, because that would be totally and utterly frivolous!

*WARNING V EXTENSIVE*

Firstly I have my eyeballs on both the Gwen Stefani Blush and Eyeshadow Palette from Urban Decay. I've tried both face powders and eyeshadows from UD previously and they are such great quality. Looking at both palettes I would get lots of use out of both of them.

So I lost my Charlotte Tilbury lipstick in Glastonberry and I am gutted, so I need to replace that asap. Also if I could I would get the shades Bond Girl and Birkin Brown. Aside from the matte lipsticks I would also like the Film Star Bronze and Glow.

Grace a heads up for you! I have some US goodies on my wishlist. Please. Top of my list is tg Kat Von Dee Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow 'n' Arrow it literally looks like the perfect nude but not overly nude colour. Also the Anastasia Brow Wiz in Medium Ash as I remember Estee Lalonde talking it about. Finally the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed another well talked about product.

Finally the Kylie Lip Kits, I tried to pretend I wasn't interested, I tried. But when Lily Melrose upload the a video with her review and swatches I was suckered in. Now I am following 'Kylie's lip kits' on all social media. I'm excited for the reveal of new colours but I really would like Dolce K and True Brown.

*Phew* my extensive wishlist is now complete, I'm not going to add it all up money wise as I'm sure I would have heart failure! I better get a good job haha!

Thanks for popping by!

Festive Make Up | Blogmas Day 7

Hello, I can't believe I've nearly completed one week, Blogmas is 100% possible, just need to get super ahead, because I slightly have an essay I need to complete really soon #priorities! Basically as soon as December began I whipped out the festive make up!

Also literally my skin is having a party on my face so excuse that.

Basically I think a festive make up look needs a golden or bronzey eye, and a red lip.  SO I can't really say much for this post. But I do definitely need a better foundation!

I hope you enjoyed this post!

Three Favourite Make Up Items | Harriet

Hello! And the prize for the least catchy title goes to...me. But it is what is, so lets jump in.

After being jealous of a certain blogger babe of her dark lips I had to purchase this gorgeous lipstick from Topshop in the shade Wicked! It's a dark plum so sticks to the winter theme, and is great for a dress down or dress up look.
The Hourglass blush has to be one of the best buys ever, after being introduced to Space NK and being persuaded to ditch the bronze for winter I tried out the Hourglass blush in ............ And had to have it! The cool dusky pink tones help me stay away from looking like a blonde barbie.
And last of all is a new addition to my chanel collection which is one of there longwear cream eyeshadows in mirage, this was actually a random present from someone and is perfect as it is a gorgeous bronzy/gold colour which is exactly what I have been searching for, for the party season! So definitely a permanent fixture in my makeup collection!

Hope you enjoyed the post!

Urban Decay Makeover

Hello! It was my Birthday on Sunday, one of my presents was a makeover/tutorial at the Urban Decay counter with their lovely MUA Heather. She talked me through each of the steps as she went through them, and I got to try loads of products I wouldn't have dreamt of being able to try otherwise (woo unemployment!) such as the Naked foundation which I had previously heard about on beauty blogs. I also picked up some tips especially for eyeliner, which I am a total noob at *please welcome Queen Eyeliner Noob*, if you apply eyeshadow before, follow the line of the which you have created, you have increased your chances of getting it right!

Heather's Kit, that got my pulse racing all of them beautiful products , oh gosh!
Cue many interesting facial expressions of myself as I am beautified.

The finished article, complete with strange facial expression hahaha!
ps my brows were equal, mine just likes to casually raise itself, but not when I want it to
This was such a luxurious experience, what's better than having your make up done for you?!

I would have been so pleased with just the makeover, but I also got a voucher so I could also buy some of the make up! Literally so generous, you know who you are you little munchkin.
As you can see I got the Naked 3 palette, which is the naked palette with the more pinky tones, I chose this because the selection of colours is totally different than any I have in my collection already, plus they are all so darn pretty!! I think I am going to get the most use out of the shades Factory, Liar and Buzz, but who knows. And also the Naked  Flushed Palette in Streak, which contains a bronzer (the first one I have ever owned) which is totally matte and not too dark for my pale skin, a highlighter in a shimmery pink, then a gorgeous peachy pink blusher. I just know I am going to get tonnes of use out of these lovely products.
If you're into make up, even a little bit go and pop to your local counter, so many goodies to feast your eyes on!

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua | Review

Hello! Today I am attempting a beauty post, really out of my comfort zone right now but I'm going to plough ahead nonetheless as I have a little review for a FleurdeForce inspired purchase Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua.

This is my first high end foundation and well £33 isn't exactly cheap is it? On first looks I was like 'oh my gosh I'm not getting much product here am I?' but it just turns out the packaging is very sleek unlike my bulky Revlon foundation.
As with anything from Chanel the packaging is very sleek and not overly complex which I am a fan off. I like the fact it is plastic which means when it gets near to running out the product will be accessible, my favourite part of the bottle is the nib/dropper, which means you can be really precise with the amount of product you want to use, I find 3 drops is plenty for my face.
Onto the actual product, I have this in shade 10 which to my knowledge is the palest shade, this is a super close match to my skin tone, which means I'm not blending in my foundation down my neck, which is a very good thing!! When I put it on it feels like a moisturiser, and smells really nice but I can't put my finger on it! I would say this a light to medium coverage and would definitely say this is buildable. I'm not going to kid you its not going to cover up your spots if you have any, as you will see in the pictures below I do have spots in abundance (oooh nice thought there for you all!), I personally prefer to use a lighter foundation which I feel lets my skin breath more, life is too short to be worrying about that plus you know the ol' concealer can take care of them! I find it does get rid off the redness in my face which for me is my main concern.

Barbie Girl Lipstick - MAC Candy Yum Yum

Hello, it was only fairly recently three new lipsticks entered my life, but recently MAC Candy Yum Yum a vibrant bright pink has made a lovely addition to my lipstick stash, which keeps on growing hehe!

My thoughts:
Good lasting power as you'd expect from a Matte lipstick from Mac (think this is my fave formula so far)
Highly pigmented
Brightens up a dull ensemble clothes wise
I think this will be really nice to wear as the weather gradually gets warmer!
Over all a happy gal!

My Mum's thoughts:
'Perfect for a neon party' A genuine quote haha
