Top 3 Summer Lipsticks

Hello! June is next week and that is summer. Personally for me I have some lip colours which I'll wear all year round such as MAC Soar and Russian Red and others which I tend to wear in particular seasons. So my picks for summer.

Number 1. Topshop Ohh La La
This has been re-released as part of their 5 years of Topshop Make Up collection but I bought mine way back when it was first out and I bring it out each summer. For me personally this is best patted into the lips, as a more muted look, other wise you'd really have to build the colour up and in summer this would just melt.

Number 2. MAC Candy Yum Yum
Despite MAC lipsticks costing £15 I am a MAC lipstick gal, nothing in Boots/Superdrug excites me the way a MAC lipstick does. I did a review on Candy Yum Yum, here. This is such a bright and eye catching colour, wear with a simple outfit and let your lips do the talking.

Number 3. Topshop Rio Rio
There is nothing more classic than a red lip, but for summer I find no matter how much (or little) tan you have, a red with an orange undertone really helps to bring that out, even if it is a dusting of bronzer. I love this colour especially as you can see it really contrasts with the blue of my eye, bring that colour out.

Looking at my top 3, I appear to like lipsticks with a bit of repetition in the name, but only for summer, intriguing.

Haul | Mac, Boots

February Book: Not That Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham Page Number: COMPLETE

Hello! I haven't spent money on make up in a while, so in the past couple of weeks I've picked up a few bits and pieces. One necessary, one lusted over and two just cuz purchases.

The Necessary

I had been using Max Factor 2000 calorie mascara, which I love to use, as it was getting to the dry unusable stage, I saw youtube videos featuring the new Loreal Miss Manga Punky Eyes mascara. I know these were ads, and the youtubers were obviously going to say that it was good. However after seeing the application of the product, I was sold right then and there. If I can get myself together I'm going to do a post on the make up I wore a couple of weeks ago for a friend's birthday so you can see it on.

The Lusted Over

Harriet will know more than anyone how much I wanted MAC Soar Lipliner, but due to the Kylie Jenner effect it is bloody difficult to get hold of, forever being out of stock in store and online. Then one day on the off chance we went into MAC, and my excitement was uncontrollable as I saw(Soar hehe) it there sat on the shelf. The purchase was made immediately. This has an amazing staying power and I don't find it overly drying on the lips. However if you more of a glossy finish gal, stay away from MAC lipliners.

The Just Cuz

I don't need anymore nail polishes, and have banned myself for a long time from buying them. Then Harriet was looking for a dark red nail polish, I suggested Barry M Red Black and it was no where to be seen, in my local boots. Thats when we turned to the Maybelline Super Stay Gel Nail Color. I got some weird kind of envy over her buying nail polish, so I picked up the top coat and the shade Mint For Life. Worse things have happened to a gal. This turned out to be a good purchase, as this Nail Polish is has the best staying power out of all the polishes I have tried, even surviving work reasonably well, which was amazing.

Haul... Nike, MAC, Lush

Hello! So this week I've got a little bonus post, I just got a couple of bits I had been wanting for a lil while now. Lunch breaks are dangerous when you work in the city... oops.

Nike Internationlist Trainers
Being on my feet all day at work means I need comfy shoes, so to go along with my Docs and Converse I got these. I am in love with them. They are a super intense burgandy colour, one of my fave colours all year round, but especially right now. After these two purchases I really need to save my dosh for London town, which naturally I will post all about. They should go with pretty much everything in my wardrobe, always a bonus.

MAC Mehr
This is a matte pinky/(browney) nude colour, which means it is a perfect everyday lip for work, I know its not going to suddenly disappear and if I do need to reapply its not a highly technical exercise, winner all round. This maybe slightly Kylie Jenner inspired umm. A question that is on my mind is 'Do I need/want a proper brown toned 90's nude like Mac Oak?!'

Lush Chritmas Bubble Bars
*Missing File for Holly Golightly , looks like a sparkly silver christmas pudding*

I am not going to describe the products to indepth, as I do not have the abilty, what I will say is though for Bubble Bars are the best value for money as you can use them more than once, and are still amazingly sceneted, and adds a Lush sprinkling of excitment to your bath. Here's what they say.... On Holly Golightly 'Come on in out of the cold and wrap yourself up in this comforting Christmas blanket of a bubble bar. Break the generously-sized pudding into two and crumble under running water. Its festive spice fragrance is like bathing in a hot toddy, perfect for getting you in the Christmas spirit'. On Drummers Drumming 'Drum up some energy with our first musical bubble bar. Made with refreshing and uplifting bergamot, this hits the right note with lovers of strawberries and cream. To use, hold it under running water or swish it around in the bathwater until you get the perfect bubble bath. Remember to pop it on the side to dry out so it will last you longer than the first day of Christmas...'

Barbie Girl Lipstick - MAC Candy Yum Yum

Hello, it was only fairly recently three new lipsticks entered my life, but recently MAC Candy Yum Yum a vibrant bright pink has made a lovely addition to my lipstick stash, which keeps on growing hehe!

My thoughts:
Good lasting power as you'd expect from a Matte lipstick from Mac (think this is my fave formula so far)
Highly pigmented
Brightens up a dull ensemble clothes wise
I think this will be really nice to wear as the weather gradually gets warmer!
Over all a happy gal!

My Mum's thoughts:
'Perfect for a neon party' A genuine quote haha

Lipstick Haulin'

Hello! Ever since I got Rebel from MAC I have just been loving bold bright lips, I don't even care if this season its all about the sheer colours, soooo recently I have picked 3 new lip sticks woo!

Here they are:

1. Topshop Boom Boom Creamy Finish
2. Topshop Depth Velvet Finish
3. MAC Russian Red Matte Finish

Swatches on hand
In the Shade

In the Sunlight

My most worn simply has to be Russian Red I've never had a matte lipstick before was a little hesitant to get it because I though it would show up any cracks and dry skin in my lips, and I really don't think it does. The colour is really complementary on my skin which is always great, due to it being a blue toned red it also means it doesn't make my teeth look yellow, score. The lasting power is really good, I wore it for all of my Hairspray performances, and on some of the shows I didn't bother to top up the colour at the interval, another good thing is it doesn't really transfer when you kiss, as Link didn't have to perform the rest of the studio scene with a nice bit of red lipstick on his lips!!

My least favourite has to be Boom Boom, I think its that I just don't like the finish on my lips. When I swatch it on my hand it looks really nice and pigmented. It doesn't have the same effect on my lips and takes lots of layering up, and 'patting down' (if you know what I mean brownie points for you haha), to get near my desired look, and when it get near you can see the lines of my lips and its really not that attractive!

Finally we have Depth, which I think is really similar to colours from MAC like Cyber. This has a way more pigmented finish on the lips and is buildable to get a nice strong colour or alternatively you can use it as a bit of a stain I should think. I am really pleased with this one, expect it to appear on my face soon in Outfit posts.

January Faves

Hello! Its an end of another month, despite it being January its been a pretty good month. I started of the month with panto (with the end resulting in post show blues), but I have had hairspray rehearsals to keep my show addiction ticking over, I went to the cinema for the first time in ages to see Anchorman 2, I've seen my friends who I missed over Christmas #lamealert, I got my ballet exam result back and it was A LOT better than I thought... I can't pin it down exactly its just been a good month I guess!

Onto my favourite products and ting.

Beauty Bits

Mac Rebel... I did a post about this here. I love this it is 100% my new fave lipstick, and it has made me want some more such as Russian Red and Candy yum yum.

Barry M Black Red
It would be typical for me not be wearing this when I want to feature wouldn't it! I've been lusting after this for ages but just hadn't bought it, so I was super happy when I got it for Christmas. I think it looks nice with any skin tone, looks quite sophisticated and sleek.

Lush Products
I did a post here where I showed you guys what I had picked up the sale. Obviously I can't show you some of the stuff but my favourite product so far has to be the Star Light Star Bright, which is a bath melt it felt super luxurious and left my skin feeling smooth, it did totally mess up the bath as it left silver all over the bath and I had to clean up boo! I would highly recommend it if Lush bring it out this year.

Clothing and Accessories

Tartan Leggings
Yes you've seen these 3 times so you get the idea!

My Onesie
This is the main reason for the lack of ootd's because I literally get home and put this on straight away, meaning I don't photograph what i'm wearing #badblogger. But its so comfy and warm, and its pretty cute as well haha!

Casio Watch
I knew this would be a favourite as soon as I got it why? It's gold I love me some gold jewellery I do, I think it has a kind of classic vibe as I'm pretty sure Casio have been making this style for many moons, finally I hate being late so I love the fact its digital so I can be precisely on time etc (ew such a virgo thing to say haha)

Randoms

Mary Berry Autobiography
I found this super easy to read, it just felt like Mary was sitting there telling me all her stories, she has lived such an exciting and varied life, with many highs and lows, to make her the person we all know and love on the Great British Bake Off. I especially love the stories on her childhood because it really is from Yester-year or like out of the Famous Five or something. I was really sad when I had finished reading it, and I can imagine that I will read it again at some point!

Anything Goes Soundtrack
I put this Cole Porter classic in my Car because I'm watching the show at the theatre and I like to know the songs before I go to see a musical. I love the music from 1930's that of Porter, the Gershwin Brothers and Irving Berlin. The music will never get old, it just makes me feel so good. It made me super excited to see the production. I especially like the Song Blow Gabriel Blow it has been stuck I my head for days and days!!!

Sunbeamsjess
This girl is one of my favourite youtubers, so not really a 'January' fave, despite her not uploading that often at the moment I keep finding myself watching her old videos at the moment, I love her style not that I could get away with most of it, but I love getting inspiration from her, and I have got a few items because of her, and have definitely gotten into vampy colours because of her!

Tom Fletcher
You all know him as one of the members of McBusted, but do you know he's got his own youtube channel... maybe not? Recently he's started to vlog more, and for someone insanely nosey its interesting to see what a pop star gets upto when they're just being their normal selves... is that weird? But anyway pop on over there and look for yourself.

Ooh that was a long one but I hope you enjoyed it!

MAC Rebel

Hello!

I finally bit the bullet and bought MAC Rebel wooo, I've wanted it for ages, it is described as 'a mid-tone cream plum', it marks my first step towards vampy lips, as previously I've only really worn colours that are 'your lips but better colours'. As a newbie to MAC can I just comment on how good this smells, I know its not that important it doesnt smelly granny like or like a synthetic sweetie smell which I don't like. In case you're wondering its a Sation finish, I like how you can build up the colour how I like to wear it or but a little bit on and smudge it in for a plummy tint. I think its lasting power is really good and doesnt seem to fade awkwardly, I am really darn pleased I've got this and now I want more, I have been seduced by a lipstick this tale will continue!

Look how blue it makes my eyes look!!
