Boots Haul | Beauty

Hello! On Tuesday I somehow ended up in Boots, I had 20 minutes of my lunch break left, so I thought I should have a browse. Money was spent!

Two out of the Four were repurchases as I had ran out of things, so these were necessary purchases.
*Clockwise*
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent, Rimmel Match Perfection in 010 Light Porcelain, Collection Lasting Perfection in Fair 1 and finally Rimmel Kate Moss Lipstick in 107.

The repurchases were the powder and concealer, two things I cannot live without and use every time I wear make up. They are both hugely talked about in the blogosphere so enough about those.

In the last month I have been loving Zoella, I went off her for a little while. But in a moment of boredness I rewatched her Vlogmas. Which is what made me want the lipstick I purchased, I now have an orange red, a true red and a dark red lipstick. I'm pretty much set up for red lipsticks I think.

My previous foundation was Chanel Vita Lumiere Aqua, and its run out *cries all the rivers*. I do really like it, but with going to Uni soon I'm trying not go crazy with the money as there are lots of things I need to purchase. For a drugstore foundation this get pretty good reviews and has spf in, it was on offer I went for it.

Top 3 Summer Lipsticks

Hello! June is next week and that is summer. Personally for me I have some lip colours which I'll wear all year round such as MAC Soar and Russian Red and others which I tend to wear in particular seasons. So my picks for summer.

Number 1. Topshop Ohh La La
This has been re-released as part of their 5 years of Topshop Make Up collection but I bought mine way back when it was first out and I bring it out each summer. For me personally this is best patted into the lips, as a more muted look, other wise you'd really have to build the colour up and in summer this would just melt.

Number 2. MAC Candy Yum Yum
Despite MAC lipsticks costing £15 I am a MAC lipstick gal, nothing in Boots/Superdrug excites me the way a MAC lipstick does. I did a review on Candy Yum Yum, here. This is such a bright and eye catching colour, wear with a simple outfit and let your lips do the talking.

Number 3. Topshop Rio Rio
There is nothing more classic than a red lip, but for summer I find no matter how much (or little) tan you have, a red with an orange undertone really helps to bring that out, even if it is a dusting of bronzer. I love this colour especially as you can see it really contrasts with the blue of my eye, bring that colour out.

Looking at my top 3, I appear to like lipsticks with a bit of repetition in the name, but only for summer, intriguing.

Barbie Girl Lipstick - MAC Candy Yum Yum

Hello, it was only fairly recently three new lipsticks entered my life, but recently MAC Candy Yum Yum a vibrant bright pink has made a lovely addition to my lipstick stash, which keeps on growing hehe!

My thoughts:
Good lasting power as you'd expect from a Matte lipstick from Mac (think this is my fave formula so far)
Highly pigmented
Brightens up a dull ensemble clothes wise
I think this will be really nice to wear as the weather gradually gets warmer!
Over all a happy gal!

My Mum's thoughts:
'Perfect for a neon party' A genuine quote haha

Lipstick Haulin'

Hello! Ever since I got Rebel from MAC I have just been loving bold bright lips, I don't even care if this season its all about the sheer colours, soooo recently I have picked 3 new lip sticks woo!

Here they are:

1. Topshop Boom Boom Creamy Finish
2. Topshop Depth Velvet Finish
3. MAC Russian Red Matte Finish

Swatches on hand
In the Shade

In the Sunlight

My most worn simply has to be Russian Red I've never had a matte lipstick before was a little hesitant to get it because I though it would show up any cracks and dry skin in my lips, and I really don't think it does. The colour is really complementary on my skin which is always great, due to it being a blue toned red it also means it doesn't make my teeth look yellow, score. The lasting power is really good, I wore it for all of my Hairspray performances, and on some of the shows I didn't bother to top up the colour at the interval, another good thing is it doesn't really transfer when you kiss, as Link didn't have to perform the rest of the studio scene with a nice bit of red lipstick on his lips!!

My least favourite has to be Boom Boom, I think its that I just don't like the finish on my lips. When I swatch it on my hand it looks really nice and pigmented. It doesn't have the same effect on my lips and takes lots of layering up, and 'patting down' (if you know what I mean brownie points for you haha), to get near my desired look, and when it get near you can see the lines of my lips and its really not that attractive!

Finally we have Depth, which I think is really similar to colours from MAC like Cyber. This has a way more pigmented finish on the lips and is buildable to get a nice strong colour or alternatively you can use it as a bit of a stain I should think. I am really pleased with this one, expect it to appear on my face soon in Outfit posts.

MAC Rebel

Hello!

I finally bit the bullet and bought MAC Rebel wooo, I've wanted it for ages, it is described as 'a mid-tone cream plum', it marks my first step towards vampy lips, as previously I've only really worn colours that are 'your lips but better colours'. As a newbie to MAC can I just comment on how good this smells, I know its not that important it doesnt smelly granny like or like a synthetic sweetie smell which I don't like. In case you're wondering its a Sation finish, I like how you can build up the colour how I like to wear it or but a little bit on and smudge it in for a plummy tint. I think its lasting power is really good and doesnt seem to fade awkwardly, I am really darn pleased I've got this and now I want more, I have been seduced by a lipstick this tale will continue!

Look how blue it makes my eyes look!!

January Wishlist

Hello! I know we've just had Christmas however I am ashamed to say there will always be something else on my wishlist, thinking about it I am really happy with my wardrobe and I don't feel at the moment there is anything I am pining for. But I am not happy with the state of my skin and feel I could do with some things to help it out a bit! So here is what i have my beady eyes on...

4.  MAC Rebel

1. This is meant to help clear out your pores and impurities and give your skin a bit of a detox really, and its designed for Oily skin aka ma face! I really want to give it a try because my skin has been through hell and back for panto slathering on grease paint make up everyday for a week, and even after a really thorough triple cleanse, yes not even double my face just don't feel totally clean you get me?

2. Despite the oil slick that my face is I sometimes feel it looks a little dull and doesn't lock in good moisture (is this even terminology!?!!) anyway if Caroline Hirrons says its good its damn well worth a try!

3. Yes we're still on skin... This is an exfoliating toner.. i.e a chemical toner so you don't have the little beads to remove dead skin cells etc it just does it! I think this is a lot better than moving any bacteria around the face... Now I just have to get hold of it, which will be tricky!

4. WHAT not skin stuff!? In the past few months I have really been loving darker lips, this lipstick in fact has been on both my 2012 and 2013 Christmas lists and my birthday list, its definitely time to get it myself I can simply wait and hope no longer!!!

Under-rated Products 1

Max Factor Colour Collections Lipstick.
Firstly I think the whole brand is over looked by bloggers and youtubers. In my view it sits in an awkward spot in the market its fairly expensive for highstreet/drugstore make up, but has the appearance of being more high end but not quite.

After the fairly recent hype over products such as Revlon's Just Bitten Kissable Balm stains, and the dedication to brands such as MAC; these lipsticks are forgotten about. I own two of the lipsticks in the shade Raisin (a muted red, with a bit of shimmer) and Rosewood (a dusty pink).

They both have good colour pay off and staying power - which is surely what you're looking for in a lip product?!?
 (raisin, rosewood)

The line doesn't have a huge array of colours, but the colours are all suitable for day to day wear. The packaging is nothing special, however when you come down to it, what matters is how it looks on the lips.

This is my first proper beauty post! I hope you enjoyed reading it, comment below if you think I should do more :) And I'd like to apologise for no pictures of them on my lips, but currently I'm blessed with a massive spot very close to my mouth, and I didn't want to share that with you!! (Too much info??)
