January Favourites

Hello, the first month of 2015 has just about been and gone. What a month it has been! Here are my favourites.

Cat Mug

This featured in my Tiger Haul, every evening it is my go to mug for Chai Latte, it fits so much in. Plus its darn cute, an awesome purchase for just £2. Im now waiting for the rest of the Cat line to come in, as I am One crazzzyyy cat lady.

The Fault In Our Stars by John Green

I didn't know what to expect from this book, I knew it would be good as it's so popular. I didn't feel sorry for Hazel, she didn't want my sympathy, she is a girl just trying to live her life, despite cancer holding her back, yet she still pushes forward. A good read, with a sharp turn.

Macbook Pro

Firstly it is nice to have my own laptop again. I have been saving up for a Mac for a while now, I haven't unlocked its full potential yet. The Apple way is very different from the Windows what can I say. Not too much to say here.

Orange is the New Black

January was the month I got the Netflix free trial, what a dangerous thing that is. Hollie showed me the first episode go OITNB last summer, and i've been dying to watch another episode ever since. The show I find to be really interesting seeing how different people cope in an enclosed environment, their every move being watched. But it's also fast paced and highly addictive. I binged watched season 1 more quickly than I'd care to admit. Then I got through season 2 even quicker. I can't wait for season 3 to come out.

Suits

Another Netflix favourite, this is about a law firm  Pearson Hardman, Mike Ross gets hired to be Harvey Spector's (Senior Partner), slight hitch Mike has no qualification but due to his photographic memory, he knows the theory he would've learnt at Law School, but with no practical experience. Throughout he has to convince the law firm he has been to Harvard, with only limited people knowing. But how long can he keep it a secret? That's only part of it.

Flower Power | 70s Trend

Hello! Ruling fashion over the last couple of years has been the 90's my birth decade, with the likes of Kylie Jenner leading the way. This spring summer the 70's seems to be having a resurgence in places like Topshop. My favourite styling of this trend, is going down the 'Flower Power' hippy/bohemian road.

Normally I dislike S/S clothing wise, but I feel like if I did what I did for winter and based my wardrobe around a few key pieces, so that I had the options for different looks, I could hop in and out of styles. The 'flower power' look could just be one. So I've had a browse around the internet, at some piece that would work as part of this trend.

1. Tassel Bags
2. Paisley
3. Dress
4. Tops

I really do have my eye on the Tan bag and the cream floaty dress, onto the wishlist they go.

Am I thinking too far ahead?

Interior Inspiration | Pinterest

Hello! Despite not having the prospects of owning a house anytime soon, interiors are very much on my mind. My outlet for this is Pinterest, I could spend many hours scrolling through just looking at interiors. A few years back I was all about cute and quaint style interiors, but now I think I am into a more contemporary design, leaning towards a Scandinavian simple feel.

Thinking what I would do in the future is definitely a neutral colour scheme which can be accessorised at different moments when my taste changes with coloured, statement pieces, like the plum sofa in the first picture, which is to die for. When I get a place of my own I want it to be somewhere calm and chill, I think images I've chosen reflect this. Am I the only one who thinks about what their house might be like?

Tea | More tea vicar

January Book: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green Page Number: 234

Hello, last week something amazing happened on youtube and it was just so perfect Estee made a video about, Tea, yes Tea. When lying in bed the other night I was thinking about Tea and how I am specific about what I drink and when, oh and where.

Location: At a friend's house

When I go round to see my friend's I will settle for quintessential, typically British tea. This is my safe bet, it's not my fave but I can deal with it.

When: Early morning

I am anything but a morning person, if i could I would wake up everyday at 11am, not an option. I need something that is going to refresh and revitalise me. I leave this to trusty Green Tea. My preferred option is the 'Pure Green Tea' from Twinings, I've tried a few but always resort back to this one.

When: Evening Netflix Binge

Hands down this has to be Chai Latte, I have found there to be some confusion whether this is a Coffee or a Tea, but it's basis is a black spiced tea. It has warm spicy flavours such as cinnamon, perfecto. I would say this is more of a winter cosy tea but I love it.

After watching Estee's Tea video I am really curious about the Tea Pigs Peppermint and Liquorice, but I'm not sure if I am daring enough to try it. I'm also intrigued by other teas.... Earl Grey, some people swear by this. Detox Tea from Twinings this about curiosity nothing else, who knows it might taste nice. Finally Caramelised Apple Green Tea, sounds like it could be tasty, might be taking away from the goodness in green tea tho.

Tiger Haul | January

January Book: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green Page Number: 196

Hello, there is just something about the things we sell in Tiger that I can't avoid buying a few bits and pieces every so often.

One thing I particularly like to buy are cards, because there are just totally random things on them, but very pleasing to the eye I got two quirky ones and two pretty ones. They are very good value, and I am not just saying that trust me they are.

After spending way too long last week organising and colour coding sweets, I broke and I had to buy (i had to..) some Raspberry Lollipops, I couldn't help myself, they just looked so tantalising.

I've been thinking for a while that some moustache and stripy was necessary in my life, for wrapping presents or just taping anything I can think to tape, with reason.

I had ran out of paper to write stuff on at my desk, so I headed to the stationary section where I found a cheesecake memo pad. Perfect.

As I mentioned in my last post I am now the proud owner of a Macbook (still trying to suss it out) but I wanted to get some kind of sleeve/case for it. One of the 'campaigns' currently at Tiger is 'Glad' Designs which I am in love with. So I purchased one of the sleeves, I find it very aesthetically pleasing.

Finally the item I am most pleased with is my new beautiful mug, it is deceivingly big, one its own it does not look big, perfect for a massive mug of hot chocolate or chai latte. I love the cat design as it curves round the mug, ah its just nice isn't it.

With everything in Tiger there isn't a definite use for it, but you'll be able to find a use for it in your life.

Into The Woods | Movie

January Book: The Fault in Our Stars by John Green Page: 155

Hello, I don't think I have ever anticipated a film so much in my life, mainly due to Three factors 1. A Musical 2.Stephen Sondheim 3.Meryl Streep. And that was a year ago, so naturally I had to go and see it the day it opened in the UK.

My favourite thing is that this film doesn't stop at 'Happily Ever After', that was 2/3 of the way through the film. You discover what happens is reality, and life isn't all about being happy. This film is not a film where you'll leave the cinema on top of the world, or sad. It left me feeling thoughtful. This fairytale isn't your ordinary fairytale, its a Stephen Sondheim fairytale, after the golden era of musical theatre (think Oklahoma, think The Sound of Music) he was at the forefront of bring grittiness of story telling to musicals with West Side Story which he was lyricist for and his own musicals Company and Sweeney Todd. My point being, there has to be something to be said in this story, a sense of realism in the world in which the characters live. There is no clear definitive right or wrong, in the song 'You are not alone' the children are told that they must decide what is right and wrong for themselves, the characters will do anything to get their 'happy endings', then things don't go as you expect them to.

The score is flawless, songs are both beautiful and clever. The singing by these actors is very good. Shoutouts have to go to Anna Kendrick her voice is so beautiful and clear, my girl Meryl Streep I could listen to 'The Last Midnight' and 'Children Will Listen' over and over again.

This film will make you laugh, smile, and cry.

Yes I've seen it twice, I'm not one bit sorry at all.

New Years Catch Up

January Book: The Fault in Our Starts Page Number: 108

Hello, today I thought I would post a catch up post as I haven't posted for a little while and that just feels really odd to be honest, and I need to get on the right track. I've changed my blog layout to how it was a while back, but its something I want to improve on! I also need to have a rethink about content, but keep reading for that.

Firstly, my 12 books 12 months challenge I have set myself. Reading is something I've never really done, even from a young age. When I was aged 10 ish girls were encouraged to read books by Jacaline Wilson, the Sleepover Club that kind of thing and I thought this was all the reading there would be out there for me, because I was a girl. Quite frankly I was entirely uninterested by these thoughts, so I simply decided I did not like reading so I stopped. I only read when I was forced to at school this was mainly for GCSE's, and because you 'had' to read the book, I was still not into it. However one day I was chatting to my Dad about reading and being like 'reading is for boring people'. That was until he handed me a book by James Patterson, it was Private London about a detective agency, nothing 'girly' about it what so ever, it was fast paced and action packed, and I read it from cover to cover. Since then I have dabbled in reading, mainly sticking to the same book series. But for this year I wanted to widen my reading horizons, get of youtube and stuck into a book. Just one a month, I think thats manageable is it not? I don't know if its ironic of me after my long speech on girlie books to start with the Fault in Our Stars by John Green, its a book I have been curious about, and from what I've read so far its real and its not fluffy, so I should get on fine. I'll let you know my thoughts at the end of the month.

Secondly, I have a Macbook Pro at long last, the price I had to pay was high, but now I feel I can do more, I have the option to make youtube videos as it has iMovie, which obviously isn't the best. Also they are tailored towards creativity, unlike Windows which is aimed more towards business. Plus I like tech, and this is the best I could get for my purposes. Also it is beautiful. However I am sucking at using the beast, and any help would be appreciated a lot!

Finally, I want to change the feel of my blog, or at least find a feel, because I just post lots of stuff, but its not very meaningful...how many other blogs out there are fashion based OOTD type things and there are a billion more beauty blogs. I'm getting to the stage in my life where, I want things to mean more, be more in depth. I really don't know what I am trying to say here. But that is my general bloggy thought. Suggestions will be welcome.

Cinderella

January Book: The Fault in Our Stars  Page Number:

Hello! Cinderella is over, and I am suffering from a bad case of post show blues. There were some dramas but overall I had the best time working with some pretty awesome people who I am going to miss a lot. We were so lucky to have near full houses for each performance, which was great for a production I was so proud to be a part of. Unless you perform I can't really explain the thrill. I am just so sad that its over. I thought I would share some pictures from it today.

Anyway, I must continue to mourn the loss of Cinderella, and just be plain old me again.

January Wishlist

January Book: The Fault in Our Stars  Page Number:

Hello! Christmas and New Years are over now, which seems totally insane to me. But here's to 2015. I know Christmas had just been, but there are still things out there in the world which I would like to get my paws on.

1. I take many pictures on my phone which I would love to get printed out so easily and conveniently, and I think this would be a better investment for me than a Polaroid Camera. However I feel this might be on my wishlist for a little while.
2. At the end of last year I found the delight of the polo neck, it is quite simply the best thing for one who feels the cold. To be honest I just need a few more.
3. I have wanted one of these since I fell in LOVE with one Sunbeamsjess had, unfortunately for me it was way way out of my budget, for me £43 is still pretty pricey this is the nicest lower priced necklace I have seen and my eyes are firmly on it.
4. My love of velvet will not subside with this year. Im sure I could easily find a use for this in my wardrobe, no doubt about it I loves it alot.

2014 Favourites

Hello! 2014 has been quite the year for me there have been some lows, but 365 days is a long time, and you know what life happens, life isn't really that bad. There are always good things no matter how big or small they maybe, and they all add up. This may sound lame but this year has really taught me not to dwell on the past, but to look to the future. You know what, its true.

I'm starting with Make Up and then going through to life favourites.
Make Up
Year of Bold Lips - MAC Rebel and Russian Red

For me personally I prefer a lipstick which has a distinct different colour from my natural lips, otherwise I feel its kinda pointless to be wearing a lipstick if it's similar to my lips. These two colours have been pretty much my 'go tos' all year.

Barry M Red Black
I am coming close to finish this Nail Polish, something I never EVER do! I don't know what it is about it, but I love the colour alot. I have a feeling this is going to be a favourite for many years to come.

Fashion
The Onesie
There is nothing to say.
Black Crop
This is such a useful piece in my wardrobe especially for layering in colder months with skater skirts and high waisted jeans.
Nike Internationlist Trainers
I got these instead of the Liberty print version, A) they were alot cheaper B) I can wear them with more. I like the look of these, and am a total trainer convert.

Blue Fluffy Jumper
I saw this after Sunbeamsjess featured it in a Topshop Haul, from then on I knew I had to have it. Since September this has definitely been one of my most warn jumpers.

Books, Films and Music
Frozen
If/Then
Grace's Guide
Meryl Streep
West Side Story
Rent
Sweeney Todd

Food and Drink
Tea
This is the year when I started to drink Tea, tea and more tea. Its very good you know. Green Tea, general Tea, Peppermint Tea, Tea, Tea TEA!
Chai Latte
This was a discovery thanks to my friend Tess, you can buy this drink out and about, but none of them will be as good as this, trust me.

Youtubers
Amelia Liana and Estee Lalonde aka Essie Button
OMG I love these gals and I always look forward to their videos, they are both hilarious and also damn well know what they're talking about when it comes to beauty.

Life (highlights)
Hairspray
Back in March I played Amber Vontussel in my school's production, this was hands down one of my favourite shows I have been in.

West Side Story - Show and Workshop
Going to see West Side story was a Birthday present from myself, which I saw with Tess and Harriet which I loved seeing live. The previous weekend I attended a workshop where two of the dancers taught us the main chorus from America, which just made the happiest girl alive.

Friends
A year can be fun with lots going on, but it would mean nothing if it wasn't for my friends, including the two babes pictured with me here!

Just a side note on my New Years resolution. This year I am aiming to read more, I don't read very often so an achievable goal I'm setting 12 books, thats 1 book a month. If you have any suggestions please put them in the comments. On each month's wishlist I will state the book, then on each months favourite I will do a short bit about the book. That way I should be able to make myself do it! 2014 was an amazing year for my blog and onwards and upwards for 2015 :D
