March Favourites

Hello! This most un-spring like of March's is nearly over, so here are my random favourites for the month.

Topshop Nail Polish Celestial
I am head over heels in love with this colour, the colour is just so bright, and has received complements when I have worn it.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish
This is a very much loved product in the bloggosphere, I hopped on the bandwagon, at the moment I love it. However it may not be for everyone as it has a strong (ish) scent.

Daffodils! I got these for my Mummy for mothers day, and to be honest it's my only hint of spring! Not much to say, they just make me happy :)

Mayday, was a mini tv series that was on the BBC at the start of the month, this got me hooked, but i do wish they had spread it over a few weeks, rather than over 5 days. You really should check it out if you can!

Top Hat the Musical Soundtrack. I have been totally in LOVE with the music from this ever since I was lucky enough to see it in London. Now it is sitting in my car, playing over and over again :D

Just a few things this month! What have you guys been enjoying??

I made... Cherry Oaty Cookies

Another baking post! On Monday I was a baking queen, making lots of goodies, including these for a bake sale at school to raise some money, as we are hiring costumes for our AS theatre studies performance of Playhouse creatures. I would like to point out these are delicious and so easy to make :)

If you'd like to make these here's how to do it!

INGREDIENTS
250g butter, softened
50g caster sugar
100g light muscovado sugar
150g self raising flour
225g porridge oats
200g glace cherries, roughly chopped

HOW TO
Preheat oven to 180°C/Gas 4/Fan 160°C
Line 2/3 Baking sheets

In a bowl beat together butter and sugars, until light and fluffy.
Stir in flour and porridge oats.
When combined stir in cherries.

Divide into approx 18 portions, and shape on the baking trays.

Bake for 15-20 minutes, until they are pale golden brown, but still soft in the centre.
Cool for 5 minutes on baking tray.
Transfer to a wire rack.

EAT them up!
Hope you liked this baking post!

Style Obsession #2 Floral Trainers

Hello :) Today i;m going to show you a trend which I'm obsessed with, and desperatly want to hop on the band wagon, and that is floral trainers! I don't tend to where trainers that often, you are most likely to see me in my tan leather boots from next years ago, but I can't help loving all these floral trianers - something a couple of years ago I thought I'd never say! Bye, bye white trainers :D

1/2/3/4/5/6/7
Sorry some came out all blurry, but you get the jist!

Number 1 and 7 have to be my favourite! Will you be purchasing floral trainers, or have you already got some I'd love to know :)

I love coral wishlist!

Hello, today is the last of my posts based around that colour coral. I'm starting to think I should write a book, 50 shades of coral! Oh and a quick note, Estee from Essiebutton is also in love with the colour!

Do you like my picks?? Now I promise, I will not do a coral themed post for a while now!

I ♥ Spring Tag

Hello, I've decided that I am just going to carry on as if spring wasn't delayed this year. I saw this on Miss Glamorazzi's youtube channel, and I thought it would be fun to do!

1. Favourite spring nail polish.
This is a lovely coral colour from fearne, don't know the name though!! (oh and excuse the flaky bits on my fingers, have been bread making haha)

2. Must have lip colour this spring.
Ooh La La from topshop or any other coral lipstick!

3. Favourite spring dress??

I've had this for ages now, but i still really love it!

4. What's your favourite flower?
Daffodils, I always get so excited when they 'spring' up in the garden, and they are so cheap and readily available. There's something about them which just makes me smile.

5. Favourite spring accessory?

My Cath Kidston Basket bag!

6. Spring trends you are most looking forward to.
Floral prints, and pastel colours.

7.  Spring candle?
I don't tend to go and buy candles :s

8.  Favourite body spray/perfume for spring.
Dot by Marc Jacobs, well now that I think about it I'm always wearing it!

9. What is spring like where you live?
Well being a brit, it varies it can be almost wintery (like it has been) but it can be very mild and summery.

10. What's your favourite thing about spring?
All the pretty flowers (i'm easily pleased!) and generally people being happier.

11. Are you a spring cleaner?
Not really, I tend to leave things to be in a massive mess before I attempt to clean up!

13. Any plans for a spring break or up coming vacation?
I have the Easter holidays coming up, and unfortunately my main plan is to start revising for exams :(

I made... a Bakewell Tart

Hello, it's been a while since I posted properly and even longer since my last baking post! This is a bit of a nostalgic bake for me, as the first time I made it was in one of my first ever food technology lessons at school!

Ingredients
PASTRY
175g plain flour
Pinch of Salt
2 tbsp caster sugar
115g butter, chilled and diced
1 medium free range egg yolk, mixed with 2 tbsp cold water

3 tbsp raspberry jam

SPONGE
60g butter, soft
60g caster sugar
1 medium free-range egg
30g self-raising flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
50g ground almonds
1/2 tsp almond extract

ICING
100g icing sugar
1 tsp lemon juice
approx 1 tbsp cold water
flaked almonds to decorate

22cm tin
Baking Tray

Recipe
Put flour, salt and sugar into bowl. Add diced butter, rub in until mixture looks like breadcrumbs. Using a round bladed knife, gradually mix in the egg yolk mixture, to make a firm dough. If the mixture is still crumby add a little water.

Wrap pastry in cling film and chill for 20 minutes.

Roll out on a floured surface, into a circle about 28cm across, then line the tin with it. Prick base with a fork. Spread over raspberry jam. Chill it.

Heat the oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas 4, and put baking tray in the oven.

Put all sponge ingredients into a mixing bowl. Whisk until thoroughly combined. Spoon on top of jam. Bake in heated oven, on the baking tray, for 30 minutes or until pastry is a light golden brown, and the filling is firm to the touch and golden. Remove from oven, cool, then unmould.

Mix icing sugar with the lemon juice and water to make a smooth runny icing. Spoon the icing into a icing bag/ small plastic bag, and snip off the tip. Pipe in a random/zig zag pattern. Scatter with flaked almonds. And you're finished!

Hope you enjoyed this post, let me know if you've made it, or what you've baked this weekend.

February is Theatre Month Part 3

Hi guys! Sorry this post is a bit delayed, that's because of the start of my spring series, which I hope you enjoyed looking at!!

Just over a week ago I went to see Top Hat at the Aldwych Theatre, in the west-end. In case you didn't know this is based on the Classic Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers film from the 1930's.

They had just recently had a cast change over I think, I was quite disappointed about this as I wanted to see Tom Chambers in it! However once the show started I needn't have worried Gavin Lee who played Jerry Travers, Astaire's character was brilliant, and so was Kristen Beth Williams who played Dale Tremont. I could sit there for hours watching these two! In fact the cast was amazing, I loved all the classic songs Puttin' on the Ritz, You're Easy to Dance With, Top Hat, White Tie and Tails; the dancing was seamless probably my favourite part of the production, from the duets to the ensemble pieces, I was in heaven.

It's a must see show and highly recommend that you pop down to see it if you can!!

Thanks again for reading this :)

Hello, I'm in a particuarly spring like mood today since the lovely sunny weekend we've just had in narrwich, and incase you've been living under a rock its March, which means spring, and most importantly it's time to say goodbye to dark winter nails (even though I love abit of dark red polish on my nails) and hello to the pastels!

And these bad boyss are my top picks!

From Front to back! Topshop Celestial, Barry M Cappucino, Barry M Berry, Natural Collection Pink Manicure, Barry M Mint Green, Fearne (don't know the name, coral)

Last year I loved barry m Mint Green and Berry, they are too really lovely pastel colours and made me so happy when I wore them. The Fearne polish was my favourite nail polish last year, and I can't wait to wear it again. This year I am excited to wear the other colours aswell!

Are there any colours you can't wait to wear now its spring?? Please let me know and I'd also love idea for other nail polishes :)

February Favourites

Hi guys, I had aimed to post this yesterday, but as always life gets in the way!!

Simple Moisturiser
I've always been sceptical about moisturiser on my face, as I am very spot prone, as I thought more moisture = more spots! This hasn't worsened my skin, and helps my foundation apply alot more easily!!

 Barry M Cappucino
This was in a recent haul, I think this is a perfect transistional colour from winter into spring.

Wavey Hair
As I have been growing my hair I have been avoiding too much heat i.e. blow drying, straightening etc. However if I let it dry totally naturally I do start to resemble Aslan - never a good look!! So I have been french plaiting when its started to dry after i wash it, and I have been loving the effects.

Soap and Glory Moisturiser
I got this in the January sales and have been loving it ever since, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. The scent is just divine and makes this so lovely to use.

 Les Miserables Music
I finally saw the film, and it has reignited my LOVE for the music, move over Kanye, Schonberg is here to stay!

Private by James Patteson
I don't like reading the typical girls book, this is much more up my street, fast paced, and about solving mystery crimes! Love it.

Hope you enjoyed this post! My highlight if February was definatly top hat!
