Tartan and Denim

Hello! When I first got my tartan shirt, this is one of the first ways I thought of styling it. This i dare say is a more edgey look for me but I really love it.

The base for this outfit are my Topshop Hayden Jeans and Crop Top, with my Docs giving a definite 90's feel to the outfit.
In A/W I feel its easy to get tied up in monochrome looks, but we don't have to say goodbye to our blue jeans.
The dark lipstick, ties in perfectly with this kinda outfit. A Kylie Jenner style nude would also really work.

October Favourites

Hello! Its that ole time again on the blog, where I tell you what my favourite bits and pieces have been through this month.

Skort
I feel this is quite a controversial little number. On the whole this is one complemented skort, and I wear it when ever I can it seems whether it was on that one occassion I went out on the town or to rehearsals. Its really nice to know if there is that gust of wind I am not going be saying 'Hello' to my 'Hohah'. However at rehearsals there was debate over what I was wearing, whether it was skirty another to be described as Skort. As Amy pointed out the skirt part was more or less just two flaps at the front. But whatever it is I love it.

Jack Wills Shirt
I had been lusting over one of these before I got one. A tartan shirt is very versatile, and I have to avoid wearing it all the time because that would be very easy to do so. This one is a thicker material, which for me is great as I feel the cold A LOT so all warm layers are very welcome.

Mono White Converse
Two weeks ago I had to retire my beloved lilac converse as they had massive holes in the heels, RIP. Despite this being a sad occassion, it was time to UPGRADE. I have looking to get these for so long, and I really wanted leather ones, as my canvas converse hadn't weathered so well in the rain, and I can wipe these clean which means they shall remain mono white. I can't stop wearig these I am getting obsessed, my fave thing of the moment, no doubt.

The Good, The Bad and The Furry by Tom Cox
This was a Birthday present and in all honesty I had no idea what to think. Essentially its about a man - Tom Cox the author after he has broken up with his last relationship, and has been left with 4 cats. It doesn't sound like much can really occur in the book at first glance, Tom begins as he means to go on to quote the opening lines 'My cat Janet has been sick outside my back door. Or, as it might have seemed to you....: a large tanker of vomit had swerved off the road and into my garden'. For me what makes this book are the descriptions of different things, an of examples this is describing how one of his friend's cat looks 'the nearest I'd seen to a genetic experiment with one of the bendy buses'.All his cats have clean personality traits, I am now about to sound like a crazy cat lady, which I totally can relate to with my little Diva of a cat Tibbles. I just like how Ralph enters the house and again to quote the book meows his own name RAAAALPH!'. Yeah I just really liked the book, and am eager to read more from the author.

Gingerbread Green Tea
I'm sure I have featured this before somewhere! But this is my tea of choice, I was previously into Green Tea which is great and what not. Oh Lordy, I love gingerbread and the subtle spicey flavours, its great in tea. Yeah I think you should try it.

Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes

Hello! If there is one thing you need to know about me, is at this time of year I get massive cravings for PSL that is the Starbucks Pumpkin Spiced Latte for anyone who is not in the know. So it was only obvious to put my love of baking and PSL together. Yes I know I am such a White Gurl.

Ingredients
220 g Plain Flour
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/2 tsp Salt
2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Nutmeg
1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
100g Soft Brown Sugar
2 Large Eggs
227g Pumpkin Puree
120 ml Vegetable Oil
80 ml Milk

Recipe
Set the oven to 180°C or 160°C Fan. And put 14 cases into a muffin tray.
1. Put all the dry ingredients APART from the Sugar, in a large bowl and mix together.

2. In a medium bowl whisk together the eggs and sugar.

3. To the egg bowl add the Pumpkin, Vegetable Oil and Milk. Mix together until combined.

4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mix until just combined. The mixture is more like a batter than most typical cake mixtures, but all is okay.

5. Then put the mixture into your cupcake cases.

6. Put in the oven for 15-17 minutes.

7. Leave to cool.

Decorating time!
Here you can do what ever you like. I used a Cream Cheese Icing and put a Halloween Haribo on the top of each of my cupcakes.
*I was the world's biggest cheat and used pre made Cream Cheese Icing, I'm sorry Mary Berry!*

The Verdict... I think these were super tasty, a really nice moist and light cake.

Whirl Wind Weekend

Hello! Today I'm sharing pictures I took from the weekend, which involved going to the other end of the country, singing musical theatre songs on the tube and the most amazing pancakes.

I went to Bath to attend the Bath Spa open day, and I have to say I have never seen a more beautiful setting for a Uni campus. Most of the pictures I took simply do not do the green rolling hills justice at all.
The less than inspiring train journey
Sheep chillin in the field right next to the uni

The gorgeous Main House

Following the Open Day, I head to Harriet's in London Town, for a night out at the Queen of Hoxton with her and Haz's flat mates Eden and Lucie, which turned out to be more of a gig, the first couple of acts were average shall I say, but Fella the Band changed all that, and everyone freaking loved them.

The next day we went to Camden to have an explore of the market.
Brunch at the Diner, the decision of what to have was very difficult, E V E R Y T H I N G sounded amazing
I ended up selecting the Strawberry Milkshake which was delicious
Harriet and I went for the Banana and Butterscotch pancakes, and Eden went for the Blueberry pancakes.
It turned out a stack of five pancakes was entirely too much and we all ended up admitting defeat.
Stuffed full of pancakes we headed towards Camden Lock and the Market.

If I wasn't so full of pancakes, I would've so taken advantage of this Doughnut at Cronut stand, it looked amazing.
The Market literally smelt delicious with a variety of food stands with cuisine from around the world, something I would have also have taken advantage of, something to bare in mind for another time.

There were so many different stands selling everything from suitcases, to masks to tea cups.

I am really looking forward to coming back to Camden, I think its one of them places no matter how many times you came back you would discover something new and interesting.

Youtuber Autumn Style

Hello! I was really umming and ahhring about what to post about today, then I had a vision as it were, recently I have been loving all the style videos on youtube so I thought I would show you three I am drawing inspiration from at the moment.

Lily Pebbles

For me Lily has what I would describe as a really London style, her outfits are casual, yet sleek and minimalist. My favourite piece has to be her gorgeous backpack from Urban Outfitters.

Sunbeamsjess

If I could have any youtubers style it would be Jessie's, overall I'd say her style is edgey and experimentative, but when you see her you don't think wtf?! you think that really works I wouldn't have thought of doing that. Her most recent lookbook is in collaboration with Topshop, which is never a bad thing in my mind. My favourite piece from this lookbook is the long denim look duster coat, which is gorgeous. Missglamorazzi

I have always liked Ingrid, but since this gal moved to New York, I feel that she is really coming into her own person. It can just be seen in all her recent videos. I really love her 'Autumn In The City' video, her outfits are spot on. Especially the berry toned outfit with the gorgeous tartan skirt paired with a bomber jacket. The Outfits paired with the New York scenery make me want to hop on a plane to New York and live the New Yorker lifestyle right now.

The Tartan Dress

Hello! If you keep up with my blog, you may know I had my eye one a certain tartan dress, well now its mine :) Today I am showing you two ways I will be styling it.

The Dress
All the colours in the tartan pattern are just simply perfect for autumn, without being to dreary as can be the way to go in colder months, we are now starting to experience...which on a side not is a huge shock to the system. The material of the dress is so freaking soft, and hangs beautifully despite being more of an oversized fit. I just know I am going to be wearing this all A/W, and for many years to come.

Casual
*currently hating myself as my zips are anything but even!*  Firstly I paired the dress with my standard leather jacket from Topshop which I adore and my new gorgeous Docs, for me this gives a fairly 'prim and proper' dress a bit of edgeyness.

More Formal
I think its apparent I like oversized clothes oops. This is a gorgeous coat I recently picked up, its black and white sort of speckled so it appears this greyish colour from a distance. This outfit would be nice to wear out to dinner or something.

October Wishlist

Hello! This month everything seems to be in the Burgundy/oxblood colour family, I feel that's because I have been dressing quite a lot in Monochrome (Harriet I blame you entirely!). I have to have more than black and white going on, colour is great after all. These kinda colours are just my absolute favourite I feel its flattering on my skin tone, I just really like it to be honest with you!

1. I don't think anyone has said a bad word about Charlotte Tilbury make up, the consensus being the packaging is gorgeous and the products are excellent. If you don't know who Charlotte Tilbury she is a Make Up artist who has worked with the likes of Mario Testinio, Tom Ford, Kate Moss and Rihanna. One product that is standing out to me is her new Matte Lipsticks, which are said to be really creamy and hydrating but still matte. I saw Zoe using the shade Glastonberry in her latest tutorial, and Lily Pebbles reviewing the whole range.

2. Drawn into this overpriced dress I thought I would try it on, and it would look horrible on me. Alas that was not the case - damn you Jack Wills - it's tartan, its a dress, its got burgurdy in it... how could I not like it? And I didn't look like a potato sack in it.

3. I saw this gorgeous back pack in Fleur's Check Mate post, and it sang out to me, I heard it. I've been looking for a back pack for a while which isn't overly expensive, I just think its gorgeous, really sleek and oh so on trend. Oh and I am always partial to gold hardware.

4. Oh Urban Decay how I have been sucked into you since my make over (post here). I had always heard the eyeshadows were high quality long lasting and highly pigmented. This pallete tickles my fancy because because the shadows are all matte which is something I am missing in my collection, and it has some darker shades which would be good in a brown smokey eye or just used as crease shades.

September Favourites

Hello! How is it that I am typing up another favourites post... I don't know? Due to September being my Birthday month I have lots of new things, and many of them have quickly become favourites.

Leading on from last month, I have still been loving Meryl Streep and her films oops. Hanna gave me a biography on her and I've been reading it every night oops and loving it. I also got three new Meryl films this month, which naturally I have watched. I really want to watch Sophie's Choice again... Meryl's acting in this wow, I totally forgot I was watching her, so far removed from what she seems like in interviews. I really need to watch it again as it was a harder film to watch than something like Julie and Julia, just to make sure I catch everything that goes on. There were some really heart wrenching and heart breaking moments, such as 'the choice' and the end. Towards the end of this film I just cried so much. The French Lieutenants Woman, was another good film, not one of my faves but still good. Finally Music of the Heart was such an uplifting and inspirational films. It just made me smile. It wasn't all fun and games though. This film just had a big heart really and I loved it.

I can't even mention September without talking about seeing West Side Story it jumped to being one of my top musicals with Les Miserables, Top Hat and Wicked. But enough about that, look at my post all about it here.

For my Birthday I got If/Then on CD so I can have it in my car, car journeys are now a joy, the music from that just ugh wonderful. The music has already featured on the blog do check out my rave here!

Oh the Naked 3 Palette *cue angels singing*. Now I knew I would like this, I just knew. When someone (Rosie) compliments your make up on snapchat when you're pulling faces, you know your make up is one point. I can only put it down to this. There are just so many looks you can pull together with this palette a really minimal look with just some colour the lid and some through the crease, or an intense smokey eye. I predict this will end up in my 2014 favourites because I like it that much!
Finally my Jack Wills leggings, I am going to make a big statement. I think Jack Wills Leggings are the best leggings. There I said it. I just think they're good quality and last much better than any of my other leggings. So when I was in desperate need of some new black leggings there was only one place to go. These have been just so useful, especially as I've been helping teach dance at my school, an absolute necessity at the moment! Oh yeah and they are super scrumpled because I have been wearing them ALOT.
